Kittles Nets 16 Points as Men’s Basketball Sails Past USciences

CALDWELL, N.J- Caldwell University men's basketball junior AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) netted a game-high 16 points as the Cougars defeated the University of the Sciences 76-48 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest. 
 
The Cougars improve to 9-10 overall and 5-5 in the CACC, while the Devils fall to 6-13 and 3-7 in conference play.
 
Caldwell got off to a quick start as they built a seven-point lead over the first eight minutes of the game. Kittles netted seven points in the run, while junior Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) drained a triple and sophomore Manley Dorme (Nanuet, N.Y.) added four points. Junior Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) bookended the run with triples as the Cougars led 20-13 at the 12:41 mark.
 
The Devils rallied back as they pulled ahead 27-26 with 6:17 left in the first half. Caldwell scored the final 16 points of the half as they held a double-digit halftime lead. Junior Daan Vianen (Nieuwegein, Netherlands) and Ogoemesim each drained triples in the run. Kittles added four points as Caldwell held a 42-27 lead at halftime.
 
Caldwell extended their lead to 52-35 early in the second half and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
 
Kittles led the way with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals. Ogoemesim added 14 points, four boards and five assists. Junior Ruud Lutterman (Dalem, Netherlands) totaled 13 points, four rebounds and two blocks. Freshman Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) chipped in seven points and six rebounds.  
 
The Cougars host Post University in a CACC North Division clash on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30 pm.
 
Wednesday's doubleheader will be the "Green Game" for the men's and women's basketball teams. The department initiative in conjunction with the CACC are promoting mental health awareness issues with the goal of breaking the stigma and letting individuals know it is okay to discuss mental struggles they are dealing with.
