CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's soccer senior
Carlyn Salus (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) and junior
Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) each netted first half goals as the Cougars held off Wilmington University 2-1 in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener.
The Cougars improve to 2-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the CACC, while the Wildcats drop to 1-3-0 and 0-1-0 in conference play.
Wilmington took the early lead as they scored in the sixth minute of play.
Caldwell answered less than a minute later as sophomore
Jordan Madrid (Cherry Hill, N.J.) passed to Salus, who chipped the ball past the keeper to knot the game at one.
Grundhauser netted the go-ahead goal in the 29th minute as they got a loose ball in the box and scored to put Caldwell in the lead at 2-1. Both teams had scoring chances as they battled through a scoreless second half to give the Cougars their first conference victory of the season.

Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) registered eight saves in the win.
The Cougars travel to Post University on Wednesday, September 12 for a CACC contest at 3 pm.
