WATERBURY, Conn.- Caldwell University women's soccer junior
Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) netted the go-ahead goal late in the second half as the Cougars rallied back from a first half deficit to defeat Post University 2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars improve to 3-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the CACC, while the Eagles drop to 0-4-1 and 0-1-0 in conference play.
The Eagles took the early lead as they scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute. The teams were even on shots 5-5 in the first 45 minutes as Post held a first half advantage.
Caldwell rallied back in the second half as junior
Katie Iannuzzi (Bloomingdale, N.J.) netted the equalizer in the 59th minute off an assist from sophomore
Macie Pennington (Townsend, Del.).
The Cougars took the lead in the 80th minute as Grundhauser put Caldwell in the lead with a goal. The Caldwell defense held strong over the final 10 minutes to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Freshman
Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) recorded six saves in the game.
The Cougars host Merrimack College on Saturday, September 15 at noon.
