CALDWELL, N.J- Caldwell University men's soccer junior
Erlend Aase (Bergen, Norway) netted the lone game for the Cougars as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Wilmington University in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener.
The Cougars move to 0-3-1 and 0-0-1 in the CACC, while the Wildcats stand at 1-0-3, and 0-0-1 in conference play.
The teams battled through a scoreless first half with the Wildcats holding the edge in shots 4-3.
Caldwell broke the scoreless tie midway through the second as Aase got a long pass from freshman
Martin Muller (Bergen, Norway) and chipped in past the keeper to put the Cougars up 1-0.
The Wildcats scored with just six minutes left in regulation to tie the game. Caldwell had a couple of late chances in the second half but the game headed to overtime.
Both teams has chances in the extra periods with the Cougars earning three corner kicks in the final two minutes of the second overtime but couldn't break the tie.
Sophomore
Nils Svere (Lier, Norway) recorded six saves in the game.
The Cougars travel to Post University on Tuesday, September 11 for a CACC game at 3 pm.
