CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's volleyball freshman
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.)led the way with 13 kills as the Cougars fell to Pace University 3-1 in their home opener.
The Cougars fall to 1-4, while the Setters improve to 4-1.
Caldwell won the opening set 25-22 before falling 25-13, 25-16 and 25-23.
Smith tallied 13 kills, two blocks and nine digs, while sophomore
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) chipped in 12 kills and seven digs. Freshman
Olivia Bellamy (Davison, Mich.) posted eight kills, while junior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) recorded four kills and two blocks.
Freshman
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) led the team with 24 assists along with seven digs, while senior
Alyssa Ayala (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with 15 assists and six digs. Freshman
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded a match-high 25 digs.
The Cougars open CACC play on Wednesday, September 5 as they host Dominican College at 7 pm at the Newman Center.
