CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's soccer freshman
Martin Muller (Bergen, Norway) and senior
Joaquin Escudero (San Sebastian, Spain) teamed up on a pair of goals to pace the Cougars past Goldey-Beacom College 2-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars win their fourth in a row to improve to 4-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the CACC, while the Lightning drop to 3-7-1 and 2-3-1 in conference play.
Both teams scored early in the game as the Cougars took the lead in the 5th minute of play. Escudero assisted on Muller's first collegiate goal. Goldey-Beacom answered less than a minute later to tie the game at 1-1.
The game remained tied deep into the second half until Caldwell broke the tie in the 74th minute. The Escudero to Muller duo teamed up again as Muller netted the eventual game-winning goal to propel the Cougars to a thrilling 2-1 victory.
Sophomore
Nils Svere (Lier, Norway) posted five saves to earn the win for the Cougars.
The Cougars host Concordia College on Wednesday, October 3 for a CACC contest at 4 pm at Caldwell Field.
