NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team came up short 2-1 in overtime to Bentley University to close out play at the Merrimack College Tournament.
The Cougars fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Falcons improve to 2-0.
The teams combined for five shots in a scoreless first half. Caldwell held the edge in shots 3-2 over the first 45 minutes.
The Cougars took the lead early in the second half as junior
Simen Johansen (Melhus, Norway) put Caldwell on the board off an assist from senior
Joaquin Escudero (San Sebastian, Spain).
Bentley battled back late in regulation as they tied the game with two minutes left in the second half. The Falcons netted the game-winner with 30 left in the first overtime.
Sophomore
Nils Svere (Lier, Norway) recorded three saves.
Caldwell are back in action on Tuesday, September 4 as they host NYIT at 4 pm in their home opener.
