EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on day one of the East Stroudsburg University Tournament to open their season. The Cougars fell to the host Warriors 3-0 and came up short to Saint Anselm College 3-1.

The Cougars open the season at 0-2. The Warriors improve to 5-0, while the Hawks improve to 4-1.

In the opening match against East Stroudsburg, the Cougars fell 25-22, 25-19 and 25-14. Sophomore
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) led the way with 11 kills, while senior
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted 14 assists. Freshman
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) chipped in six kills and two aces, while freshman
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded 14 digs.

Caldwell closed out their first day with a 3-1 loss (21-25, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25) loss to Saint Anselm. Smith tallied 14 kills, two blocks and eight digs, while Kissner totaled eight kills and nine digs.

Freshman
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) posted 18 assists and six digs, while Hoffman finished with 12 assists and two aces. Junior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) recorded seven kills, four blocks and four digs.

The Cougars conclude play at the ESU Tournament on Saturday, September 1 as they take on the University of New Haven at 1 pm and Queens College at 3 pm. Â
