CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University softball team blasted four homeruns as they swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Bloomfield College. The Cougars won the opener 7-4 and took the nightcap 9-0 in five innings.

The Cougars even their record at 12-12 and improve to 7-1 in the CACC, while the Bears fall to 6-14 and 6-8 in conference play.

Caldwell took the lead in the third inning as senior
Kiahna Silva (Etiwanda, Calif.) led off with a walk. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and reached third on a passed ball. Freshman
Kaileen Cain (Hauppauge, N.Y.) singled to score Silva for a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars added to their lead in the fourth as sophomore
Kelle Lalier (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) reached on a fielder's choice. Silva doubled in Lalier, while sophomore
Melissa Rini (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) singled in Silva for a 3-0 Caldwell lead.

Bloomfield pushed across two runs in the fifth but Caldwell answered in their half of the inning. Cain singled with one out and scored on a two-run homerun by sophomore
Christina Misiur (Sayreville, N.J.).

The Bears added a run in the top of the sixth to cut the score to 5-3. Caldwell scored a pair of runs in their half of the sixth with freshman
Maya Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) driving in one run with a double.

Sara Bearden (Ewing, N.J.) struck out seven in a complete game effort. Bearden improved to 6-5 as she allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits in the win.

Caldwell took control early in the nightcap as they scored seven runs in the opening inning. Silva led off the inning with a solo homerun. Rini and senior
Marisa Monasseri (Monroe, N.J.) were hit by pitches and they advanced on a fly out. Misiur singled to score Rini for a 2-0 lead. Caldwell went on to load the bases and freshman
Paige Sandoval (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) blasted a grand slam to extend the lead to 6-0. Sophomore
Daniela Solis (Wilmington, Del.) doubled and scored on a Silva double for a 7-0 lead.

The Cougars added two runs in the fifth as Sandoval singled with one out. Silva hit a homerun to left to end the game at 9-0.
