CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University baseball sophomore
Jack Anderson (Nyack, N.Y.) tossed eight strong innings to earn the win in the opener as the Cougars split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Chestnut Hill College. Caldwell won the opener 4-2, while Chestnut won the nightcap 20-6.

The Cougars move to 2-18 overall and 2-8 in the CACC, while Griffins stand at 9-13 and 5-7 in conference play.

Caldwell took the early lead in the first inning as senior
Daniel Gregor (Monroe, N.J.) doubled with one out. Senior
Justin Jeannette (East Hanover, N.J.) followed with a double to put the Cougars up 1-0. The Griffins rallied with a run in the second inning and took a 2-1 lead in the sixth.

The Cougars battled back with three runs in the sixth as sophomore
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Jeannette reached on an infield single. Senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y) put the Cougars back in front with a two-run triple. Senior
Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.) doubled home Bernstein to extend the lead to 4-2.

Anderson tossed eight innings, allowing two runs on nine hits, while striking out eight to improve to 1-2. Graduate
Zach Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.) pitched one scoreless inning, allowing one hit with two strikeouts to earn the save.

In the nightcap, Chestnut Hill scored two runs in the opening inning to take the early lead. The Cougars rallied in the bottom of the first as senior
Paul Marinello (Freehold, N.J.) led off with a single. Gregor drew a walk with both runners scoring on a Jeannette triple tie the score at two. Bernstein followed with a single to put Caldwell in front 3-2.

The teams traded runs in the second and third innings as Caldwell held a 5-4 lead. Sophomore
Chris Herrera (Passaic, N.J.) walked and stole second to start the second inning. He scored on a Marinello single. In the third, senior
William Levier (Monroe Township, N.J.) doubled with two outs. Herrera singled in Levier for a 5-4 lead. Caldwell added a run in the fourth as Zosulis singled. Bernstein tripled him home for a 6-4 Caldwell lead.

Chestnut Hill took the lead with five runs in the fifth as they scored 16 runs over the final five innings of the game.

Gregor (0-3) took the loss as he tossed four innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits with four strikeouts.
