CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Bloomfield College. The Bears took the opener 4-3, while the Cougars won the nightcap 5-3.
The Cougars move to 1-17 overall and 1-7 in the CACC, while Bears stand at 6-11-1 and 1-5 in conference play.
In the opener, Bloomfield took the early lead with a run in the first and two in the second innings. Caldwell rallied back in the second as the Cougars loaded the bases with one out. Senior

Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.) drew a walk. Sophomore
Chris Herrera (Passaic, N.J.) cleared the bases with a three-run double to tie the game.

Justin Picinic (River Vale, N.J.) tossed eight innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits with three strikeouts to fall to 0-3. Graduate
Zach Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.) pitched one scoreless inning, allowing one hit with one strikeout.
In the nightcap, Caldwell took the early lead with three runs in the opening inning. Sophomore
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) started the rally with a two-out single. Jeannette reached base on an error, while senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Junior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ripped a double to the left-center gap to clear the bases and put the Cougars in the lead at 3-0.
The Cougars added a run in the fourth as Goldman led off with a triple and scored later in the inning on a balk. Bloomfield rallied back with three runs in the fifth to cut the score to 4-3.
Caldwell added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth as Bernstein drew a one-out walk. He moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Marino.
Sophomore
Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with five strikeouts to improve to 1-1. Freshman
Robert Brust (Shirley, N.Y.) pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and recorded one strikeout. Sophomore
Raymond Ramos (Bloomfield, N.J.) retired the only batter he faced, while junior
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) tossed 2/3 of an inning, allowing one hit to earn his first save of the season.
The Cougars host Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, April 7 at noon at the Kiwanis Oval.
