CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University baseball senior
Justin Picinic (River Vale, N.J.) tossed seven scoreless innings in the opener as the Cougars swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader over Concordia College. Caldwell took the opener 4-0 and scored a late run in the nightcap to complete the sweep with a 2-1 win.

The Cougars improve to 4-27 and 4-16 in the CACC, while the Clippers drop to 14-17 and 10-8 in conference play.

Caldwell got on the board in the third inning as senior
Daniel Gregor (Monroe, N.J.) doubled with one out. Sophomore
Jack Zosulis (East Hanover, N.J.) followed with a single to put the Cougars up 1-0.

The Cougars added to their lead in the fifth as senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) drew a one-out walk. Zosulis singled and both runners moved into scoring position on a groundout. Junior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) came up with a key hit as he doubled in two runs to extend the lead to 3-0. Marino again was a catalyst in the seventh as he singled in Zosulis, who doubled with one out.

Picinic (1-4) tossed a gem, as he struck out four in seven scoreless innings, allowing six hits. Sophomore
Raymond Ramos (Bloomfield, N.J.) and junior
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) each pitched a scoreless inning to preserve the win for Caldwell.

In the nightcap, senior
Paul Marinello (Freehold, N.J.) led off with a single. He advanced to second on an errant throw by the pitcher on a failed pickoff attempt. Bernstein singled to score Marinello and give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Concordia rallied back as they tied the score at one in the top of the second. Â

Caldwell pushed across the go-ahead run in the sixth as Bernstein led off with a walk. He stole second and came around to scoring the eventual winning run on a single by senior
Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.).

Sophomore
Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) got the start, going five innings, allowing one run on four hits and struck out six. Sophomore
Jack Anderson (Nyack, N.Y.) earned the win in relief to improve to 2-3 as he pitched a scoreless inning. Frascati retired all three batters he faced in the seventh, registering two strikeouts, to earn his second save of the season.
