CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University Baseball team came up short to Queens College 5-2 in a non-conference game.
The Cougars fall to 0-16 on the season, while the Knights improve to 9-10.
Queens took the early lead with a run in the first inning and three in the second inning to push ahead 4-0.
Caldwell battled back with two runs in the third inning as senior
William Levier (Monroe Township, N.J.) walked with one out. Sophomore
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) singled, while senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) drew a walk to load the bases. Junior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) reached on an error to score one run, while sophomore
Dustin Walicky (Belleville, N.J.) drew a walk to force in a run.
The Knights added a run in the eighth but the Cougars were unable to rally back in the later innings.
Senior
Zach Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.) took the loss as he tossed five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits with one strikeout. Sophomore
Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing on hits. Senior
Daniel Gregor (Monroe, N.J.) tossed the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, April 3 for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Post University at 3 pm at the Kiwanis Oval.
