Baseball Wraps Up Florida Trip with Loss to Southern Connecticut

BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Caldwell University baseball team wrapped up their Florida spring break trip with a 7-1 loss to Southern Connecticut St. University.
 
The Cougars fall to 0-8 on the season, while the Owls improve to 10-5.
 
The teams played six scoreless innings before the Owls broke through with two runs in the seventh inning. Southern Connecticut added five runs in the ninth to take a 7-0 lead.
 
Caldwell got on the board in the ninth inning as senior Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.) singled with one out. Sophomore Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) followed with a single to move Goldman to third. Senior Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in Goldman with a sacrifice fly for the lone Cougar run
 
Senior Daniel Gregor (Monroe, N.J.) started, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts to fall to 0-2. Sophomore Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hits. Junior Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing five runs on five hits with one strikeout, while sophomore Raymond Ramos (Bloomfield, N.J.) retired the lone batter he faced.  
 
The Cougars host Queens College on Monday, March 19 in their home opener at 3 pm at the Kiwanis Oval.
