CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior
Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) totaled 22 points as the Cougars defeated Dominican College 70-44 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 19-4 on the season and 12-2 in the CACC, while the Chargers drop to 7-15 and 6-7 in conference play.
The teams traded leads in the opening quarter but the Cougars took control ad they pulled ahead by eight points midway through the second quarter. Dominican cut the score down to four points at 23-19 with 2:22 left in the first half.
Caldwell broke the game open with an 18-3 run that stretched into the second half. Senior
Maura Kelty (Barrington, R.I.) drained a triple late in the second quarter to start the run. Drogsler drained a pair of triples and added a jumper in the run. Junior
Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) capped the run with two free throws at the 4:07 mark of the third quarter to give Caldwell a 41-22 lead. The Cougars maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Drogsler led the way with 22 points, three rebounds and five steals. Lennon chipped in 12 points, four boards and six assists. Senior
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) totaled 12 points, five assists and two steals, while junior
Kristen Siscamanis (Winthrop, Mass.) finished with eight points and a team-best seven rebounds.
The Cougars travel to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, February 10 for a CACC contest at 1 pm.
