CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball junior
Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.) tied a career-high with 24 points as the Cougars defeated Bloomfield College 67-51 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
The Cougars improve to 2-5 overall and 2-0 in the CACC, while the Bears drop to 1-6 and 0-1 in conference play.
Caldwell jumped out to a lead as Lebron drained three trifectas in the opening quarter to give the Cougars a 20-11 lead early in the second quarter. Bloomfield cut the score down to four points at 24-20 midway through the second quarter but Caldwell held a 32-24 lead at halftime.
The Cougars pulled ahead by as much as 11 points in the third quarter following a Lebron triple at the 8:39 mark. The Bears battled back as they trimmed the score down to one-point at 40-39 with 2:57 remaining in the third quarter.
Caldwell rallied as Lebron connected on three triples to close out the quarter. Senior
Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) added a three-pointer and a lay-up early in the fourth quarter to extend their lead to 54-41. The Cougars maintained their lead the rest of the way.
Lebron tied her career-high 24 points and set career-best with eight three-pointers and eight assists. Freshman
Tamrin Henderson (Woodbridge, Va.) totaled 12 points and seven rebounds, while Lennon finished with 10 points, seven assists and two steals. Freshman
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) set a career-high with 13 rebounds in the win.
The game was featured as part of the NCAA Division II Showcase package and was televised on the CACC Network, various social media platforms and FIOS1 News channel.
The Cougars travel to Assumption College for a non-conference contest on Saturday, December 15 at 1:30 pm.
