Alessia Smaldone (Malnate, Italy) scored 15 points in the Cougars 71-47 loss to Assumption College.
The Cougars fall to 2-6, while the Greyhounds improve to 7-3.
The Greyhounds opened up with a 13-2 lead over the first six minutes of the game. Junior
Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.) drained a triple late in the quarter to close the score to within eight points. Assumption opened up 21-9 lead after the opening quarter to hold a double-digit lead.
Smaldone led the way with 15 points, five boards and five steals. Lebron drained three trifectas as she finished with 11 points, two rebounds and two steals. Senior
Kristen Siscamanis (Winthrop, Mass.) led the Cougars with seven rebounds and three blocks, while freshman
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) netted six points.
The Cougars wrap up their road trip as they travel to Stonehill College on Sunday, December 16 for a 1:30 pm tip.
