Men’s Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to #15 Lynn on Buzzer-Beater

BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Caldwell University men's basketball pushed #15 Lynn University to the brink but a three-pointer at the buzzer sunk the Cougars upset bid 65-63 to close out their Florida road trip.
 
The Cougars fall to 5-6 overall, while the Fighting Knights improve to 9-0.
 
Caldwell pulled ahead 10-5 over the first six minutes of the game. Lynn rallied back as they scored the next nine points to take a 14-10 lead.
 
Junior Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) drained a triple and added a lay-up to put Caldwell back in front 15-14 midway through the half. Senior Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) added a trifecta, while junior AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) scored four points as the Cougars pushed ahead 24-18. The Fighting Knights closed the gap late but the Cougars held a 28-27 halftime advantage.
 
Lynn took a one-point lead early in the second half following a three-pointer. Kittles converted a three-point play and sophomore Manley Dorme (Nanuet, N.Y.) scored in the paint to help Caldwell take a 35-32 lead with 14:51 remaining in the game.
 
Caldwell extended their lead to as much as seven points at 56-49 following a Harrison triple at the 4:36 mark. The Fighting Knights converted a three-point play with under a minute to play to cut the score to three points. Lynn chipped away in the final seconds as they drained the game-winning shot as time expired for a two-point win.
 
Ogoemesim shot 8-for-12 from the field as he led the way with 20 points. Harrison tallied 10 points, five boards and four steals. Dorme chipped in eight points, nine rebounds and two steals. Junior Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) added seven points, four boards and six assists and Kittles finished with seven points and six rebounds.
 
The Cougars close out the first half of the season as they host Assumption College on Sunday, December 30 at 1:00 pm at the Newman Center.
