CALDWELL, N.J- Caldwell University men's basketball junior
AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) dropped in a career-high 19 points as the Cougars defeated Assumption College 70-58 to close out the first half of the season.
The Cougars even their record at 6-6, while the Greyhounds fall to 5-7.
Caldwell was sparked by hot shooting right out of the gate as they hit 11 of their first 13 shots through the midway point of the first half. Senior
Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) drained a pair of triples in the early going, while junior
Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) added eight points to help Caldwell build a 26-9 lead.
The Cougars finished the opening half shooting 19-for-24 (79.2%) from the field. Harrison led the way with 10 first half points as Caldwell held a 41-27 lead at halftime.
Assumption closed to gap early in the second half to 46-35 with 15:58 remaining in the game. Caldwell ripped off the next six points and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Kittles shot 8-for-9 from the field as he netted a career-best 19 points to lead the Cougars. Harrison posted 14 points and four assists, while Ogoemesim finished with 11 points and seven boards. Sophomore
Manley Dorme (Nanuet, N.Y.) totaled eight points and four rebounds.
Caldwell returns to action in the New Year as they travel to Felician University on Wednesday, January 2 for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at 8:00 pm.
