CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball junior
Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) totaled 22 points as they Cougars defeated Queens College 61-57 in a non-conference game.
The Cougars improve to 4-2 overall, while the Knights fall to 0-7.

Ruud Lutterman (Dalem, Netherlands) combined for 12 points over the first eight minutes to help Caldwell build a 12-8 lead. Queens battled back as they pulled ahead 27-20 with 3:25 left in the opening half.
The Cougars scored nine straight points as Lutterman connected on four free throws, while Covington added two from the line. Covington drained a three-pointer with under a minute to play to put the Cougars back in the lead at 29-27. The Knights connected on a late triple to take a 30-29 lead at halftime.
Caldwell opened the second half with a 7-2 run to pull ahead 36-32 with 18:14 left in the game. Covington drained three from the free throw line, while Lutterman scored in the paint. Queens rallied back as they pulled ahead by six points at 44-38 near the midway point of the half.
The Cougars rallied back as they used a 17-4 run over an eight-minute stretch to pull ahead by seven points. Covington netted 12 of the 17 points in the run, including a pair of triples. Harrison converted a key three-point play at the 6:58 mark that put Caldwell in front 48-46. Covington capped the run with a three-pointer at the 3:13 mark for a 55-48 Caldwell lead.
The Knights closed the gap to one-point down the stretch but the Cougars held off the Knights over the final minute.
Covington led the way with 22 points and two steals, while shooting 3-for-4 from downtown. Lutterman posted 16 points, eight boards and two steals. Harrison tallied seven points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals.
The Cougars travel to Concordia College on Tuesday, December 4 for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest at 7:00 pm.
