BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior
Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) posted 18 points in the Cougars 88-67 loss to LIU Post in a non-conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 0-2, while the Pioneers improve to 4-0.
Caldwell held a one-point lead at 7-6 midway through the opening quarter following a Lennon three-point play. The Pioneers pushed ahead by seven points but the Cougars battled back to cut the score to 16-15 with just over a minute to play. Junior
Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.) drained a pair of triples, while Lennon added two free throws in the run.
The Pioneers extended their lead to six but a late bucket by senior
Kristen Siscamanis (Winthrop, Mass.) cut the score to 21-17 after the opening quarter.
The Cougars remained close through the second quarter but the Pioneers pulled away over the final three minutes to lead 48-35 at the break. LIU Post held a double-digit lead into the second half.
Lennon led the way with 18 points, eight boards and three assists. Freshman
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) totaled 14 points and six rebounds, while Siscamanis chipped in eight points and four boards. Freshman
Ana Gonzalez Martin (Toledo, Spain) posted 10 points, while Lebron contributed eight points and two steals.
The Cougars host Adelphi University in their home opener on Sunday, November 25 at 1 pm at the George R. Newman Center.
