Lennon Nets 19 Points as Women’s Basketball falls to East Stroudsburg in Season Opener

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) scored 19 points in the Cougars 62-53 loss to East Stroudsburg University in their 2018-19 season opener.
 
Caldwell opens the season at 0-1, while the Warriors improve to 2-1.
 
After battling through an even first quarter, Caldwell pulled ahead early in the second quarter to build a double-digit lead. Lennon drained a triple late in the first quarter, while junior Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.) added a pair from downtown in the second quarter to give the Cougars a 27-17 lead. The Warriors closed out the half with a late run to cut Caldwell's lead to 30-24 at halftime.
 
Caldwell got off to a fast start in the third quarter with a 9-2 run to extend their lead to 13 points. Lennon scored four points, while freshman Tamrin Henderson (Woodbridge, Va.) added a bucket in the paint. Lebron drained a triple at the 6:34 mark to extend the lead to 39-26.
 
East Stroudsburg battled back to cut the score to 47-41 heading into the final quarter. The Warriors shot 72.7% from the field in the final quarter as they pulled ahead and held off Caldwell in the final minutes.
 
Lennon led the way for Caldwell with 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Henderson dropped in 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists in her first collegiate action. Lebron totaled 11 points and four boards, while graduate Alessia Smaldone (Malnate, Italy) posted six points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
 
The Cougars travel to LIU Post on Thursday, November 15 at 5 pm.
