PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team battled to a 3-3 tie against Jefferson in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
The Cougars move to 7-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the CACC, while the Rams stand at 4-5-1 and 4-4-1 in conference play.
Caldwell took the early lead as junior
Amber Raines (Millville, N.J.) netted a goal in the fourth minute of play of an assist from sophomore
Macie Pennington (Townsend, Del.). The Cougars added to their lead in the 10
th minute as senior
Amanda Wroblewski (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored the team's second goal off an assist from sophomore
Jordan Madrid (Cherry Hill, N.J.).
Jefferson got on the board in the 23
rd minute to cut the score to 2-1. The Cougars added a third goal in the first half as Madrid scored off an assist from senior
Samantha Pereira (Union, N.J.) in the 44
th minute to give Caldwell a 3-1 halftime lead.
The Rams scored a pair of second half goals to even the score. Jefferson scored in the 54
th minute and added the tying goal in the 73
rd minute, which sent the game into overtime.
Jefferson outshot Caldwell 5-1 in the two overtime periods but neither team scored to give each team a point in the conference standings.
Freshman
Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) posted 11 saves for the Cougars.
The Cougars host Nyack College on Wednesday, October 10 in a CACC clash at 4 pm at Caldwell Field.
