WILMINGTON, Del.- Caldwell University women's volleyball freshman
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) posted 26 kills as the Cougars came up short 3-1 to Goldey-Beacom College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars fall to 7-14 overall and 6-5 in the CACC, while the Lightning improve to 4-15 and 2-8 in conference play.
Goldey-Beacom took the first two sets 25-23 and 25-19. Caldwell battled back to take set three 25-19 but fell in the fourth set 30-28.
Smith led the way with 26 kills and nine digs, while sophomore
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) chipped in nine kills. Junior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) posted seven kills and four blocks, while freshman
Madison Day (Rockledge, Fla.) finished with seven kills and three digs.
Freshman
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) tallied 50 assists, three blocks and six digs. Freshman
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) recorded 26 digs, while sophomore
Alejandra Leal Montes (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) finished with 15 digs and two aces.
The Cougars host Felician University in a CACC match on Tuesday, October 9 at 7 pm.
