Women’s Soccer Close out Regular Season with Loss to NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.- Caldwell University women's soccer sophomore Teaghan Darling (Forked River, N.J.) netted the Cougars lone goal in a 2-1 loss to NYIT to close out their regular season. The Cougars have qualified for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship and will host a quarterfinal game on Monday, October 29.
 
The Cougars fall to 9-6-1 overall, while the Bears improve to 10-5-2.
 
Caldwell got on the board in the 41st minute of play off an assist from junior Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) and senior Samantha Pereira (Union, N.J.).
 
NYIT tied the game at one with a minute left in the first half. The Bears took the lead as they netted the go-ahead goal with 40 seconds remaining in the second half.
 
Freshman Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) totaled 12 saves for the Cougars.   
 
The #4 Cougars host #5 Jefferson in the CACC Championship Quarterfinals on Monday, October 29 at 2 pm.
