WILMINGTON, Del.- Caldwell University women's volleyball sophomore
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) tallied a match-high 22 kills to help lead the Cougars past Wilmington University 3-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.
The Cougars improve to 10-15 overall and 9-6 in the CACC, while the Wildcats fall to 17-10 and 11-4 in conference play.
Caldwell took the opening set 25-22 and fell in the second set 25-19. The Cougars won the third set 25-19 but Wilmington forced a deciding set with a 27-25 se four win. Caldwell trailed 14-11 in the fifth set but the Cougars ripped off the final five points to win 16-14.
Schlaepfer totaled 22 kills and added 21 digs, while freshman
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) posted 18 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Sophomore
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) netted 13 kills and three blocks, while junior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) finished with nine kills and three blocks.
Freshman
Demetria Gary (Savannah, Ga.) recorded eight kills and six blocks, while freshman
Lisbeth Suarez (Bogota, N.J.) added 16 digs and two aces. Freshman
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) totaled 42 assists, 12 digs and two aces, while senior
Jordan Hoffman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted 22 assists and three blocks. Freshman
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) finished with 34 digs.
The Cougars travel to Georgian Court University on Tuesday, October 23 for a CACC contest at 6:30 pm.
