CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's volleyball team had three players hit double figures in kills as the Cougars defeated Nyack College 3-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars improve to 9-15 overall and 8-6 in the CACC, while the Warriors fall to 10-13 and 9-5 in conference play.
The Cougars took the opening set 25-17 but Nyack won the second set 26-24. Caldwell won the final two sets 25-20 and 25-18 to win the match.
Freshman
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) led the way with 17 kills, two aces and six digs, while sophomore
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) netted 16 kills. Sophomore
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) chipped in 13 kills, two aces and eight digs, while freshman
Demetria Gary (Savannah, Ga.) totaled five kills and six blocks.
Junior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) posted five kills and three digs, while freshman
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) tallied 43 assists and 10 digs. Freshman
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) finished with 16 digs and eight assists.
The Cougars travel to the Wilmington University for a CACC contest on Saturday, October 20 at 2 pm.
