CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team scored three second half goals as the Cougars defeated Dominican College 4-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 9-4-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the CACC, while the Chargers fall to 3-11-1 and 3-6-1 in conference play.
Caldwell got on the board in the 20
th minute as sophomore
Macie Pennington (Townsend, Del.) crossed into the box to senior
Carlyn Salus (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) for the first goal of the game.
The Cougars scored early in the second half as junior
Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) scored off a save by the keeper to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 53
rd minute. Dominican netted their lone goal in the 63
rd minute to cut the score to 2-1.
Caldwell tacked on a pair of insurance goals in the final 16 minutes as Grundhauser scored her second of the game off an assist from sophomore
Hannah Marino (Pennington, N.J.) in the 74
th minute. Junior
Katie Iannuzzi (Bloomingdale, N.J.) netted a goal three minutes later off an assist from sophomore
Jordan Madrid (Cherry Hill, N.J.).
Freshman
Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) finished with seven saves in the win.
The Cougars travel to Holy Family University on Saturday, October 20 for a CACC game at 5 pm. The game will be played at Bryn Athyn College.
