ORANGEBURG, N.Y.- Caldwell University women's volleyball freshman
Elise Smith (O'Fallon, Ill.) netted 25 kills as the Cougars came up short 3-2 to Dominican College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars fall to 8-15 overall and 7-6 in the CACC, while the Chargers improve to 3-18 and 3-10 in conference play.
Dominican took the first two sets 25-23 and 26-24. Caldwell battled back to tie the match by winning the next two sets 25-15 and 25-13. The Chargers won the fifth set 16-14 to win the match.
Smith led the way with 25 kills, four blocks and 11 digs, while sophomore
Chloe Kissner (Seabrook, Texas) totaled 21 kills and six digs. Freshman
Demetria Gary (Savannah, Ga.) chipped in eight kills, while sophomore
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) posted seven kills, two blocks and four digs.
Junior
Katie Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) recorded five kills, two aces and five blocks, while freshman
Humiko Stormer (Luckey, Ohio) finished with 14 digs. Freshman
Samantha Ashton (Colonia, N.J.) tallied 57 assists and 12 digs.
The Cougars host Nyack College in a CACC match on Wednesday, October 17 at 7 pm, which will be the program's "Green Game" to promote mental health awareness.
