Jennings Tallies 22 Points in Men’s Basketball Win over Georgian Court

LAKEWOOD, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball sophomore Zay Jennings (Allentown, Pa.) posted a game-high 22 points to lead the Cougars past Georgian Court University 88-72 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
 
The Cougars improve to 8-9 overall and 5-3 in the CACC, while the Lions fall to 3-13 and 3-5 in conference play.
 
Caldwell built an eight-point lead in the game powered by three-pointers by sophomore Daan Vianen (Nieuwegein, Netherlands) and Jennings. Sophomores Eric Johnson-Alford (Clifton, N.J.) and Ruud Lutterman (Gorinchem, Netherlands) each netted four points as the Cougars pulled ahead 18-10 at the 12:51 mark.
 
The Lions rallied back as they cut the score to 29-28 with just over six minutes to play in the half. Vianen added a triple, while Jennings drained a trifecta just before halftime to give Caldwell at 39-34 lead at the break.
 
Georgian Court sliced the score down to two points at 41-39 with 18:50 left in the game. Caldwell took control of the game with a 15-6 run to extend their lead into double-digits.
 
Jennings paced the run with six points, while Johnson-Alford chipped in four points. Sophomore AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) capped the run with a three-point play to give the Cougars a 56-45 lead with 13:56 left in the game. Caldwell held the lead to the final buzzer to earn their eighth win of the season.
 
Jennings drained 4-of-8 from downtown as he finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Lutterman chipped in 14 points, seven boards and two steals, while Johnson-Alford totaled 12 points and four rebounds. Vianen shot 3-for-4 from behind the arc as he posted 13 points and six rebounds. Junior Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) chipped in six points, seven assists and four boards.
 
The Cougars travel to Concordia College on Monday, January 15 for a CACC game at 5 pm.
