LAKEWOOD, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior
Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, NY) netted a game-high 26 points to lead the Cougars past Georgian Court University 92-56 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 14-3 on the season and 7-1 in the CACC to maintain their lead in the North Division.
The Lions jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Caldwell rallied back with a 22-4 run that stretched into the second quarter. Senior
Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) netted eight points in the run, while Drogsler and sophomore
Tina Lebron (Manalapan. N.J.) each drained a triple. Senior
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) capped the run with two free throws as Caldwell took a 24-14 lead with 7:36 left in the second quarter.
Georgian Court closed the gap to five points at 24-19 but Caldwell finished the half strong. Drogsler drained a triple, while O'Driscoll added four points including as bucket before halftime to give the Cougars a 37-28 lead at the break.
The Cougars scored the first nine points of the second half to extend their lead into double figures. Drogsler drained a three-pointer and added a bucket to push Caldwell's lead to 46-28 at the 7:55 mark of the third quarter. Caldwell maintained their lead to the final buzzer to maintain their hold on the division lead.
Drogsler finished with 26 points (4-for-7 from downtown) eight rebounds and five steals. Junior
Kristen Siscamanis (Winthrop, Mass.) chipped in 13 points, six boards and five assists. O'Driscoll posted 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
The Cougars travel to Concordia College on Monday, January 15 for a CACC game at 3 pm.
