CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior 
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) scored her 1,000th career point in the Cougars 91-66 win over Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
 
The Cougars retake sole possession of first place in the North Division as they improve to 13-3 overall and 6-1 in the CACC. The Wildcats drop to 5-10 and 2-5 in conference play.
 
Caldwell shot 57.1% in the opening quarter led by seven points from junior 
Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.). Sanders historic moment came at the 1:40 mark of the quarter on a lay-up as she became the 19th women's basketball player in school history with 1,000 career points. The Cougars held a 26-20 lead after the first quarter.
 
The Cougars opened up a double-digit lead early in the second quarter paced by a three-pointer from sophomore 
Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.). The Wildcats closed the gap to seven points late in the first half at 42-35. Senior 
Maura Kelty (Barrington, R.I.) connected on a late jumper, while Sanders drained a triple to give the Cougars at 47-35 lead at halftime.
 
Wilmington rallied to start the second half as they cut the score to 56-50 with 4:17 left in the third quarter.
 
Caldwell pulled away with a 25-5 run that stretched into the fourth quarter. Kelty netted six points, while Sanders posted five points in the run. Senior 
Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) added a triple, while Lebron capped the run with a trifecta to give the Cougars an 81-55 lead with 5:25 left in the game. Caldwell led by double-digits the rest of the way.
 
Sanders posted a double-double in the win with 14 points and 10 assists along with five rebounds and two steals. She finished the game with 1,011 career points and currently ranks 19th in school history in points.
 
Junior 
Kristen Siscamanis (Winthrop, Mass.) led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds. Lennon totaled 14 points, four boards, three assists and two steals. Senior 
Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) added 14 points and five rebounds, while Kelty chipped in 10 points, eight boards and four steals.  
 
The Cougars travel to Georgian Court University on Saturday, January 13 for a CACC contest at 1 pm.
