Women’s Soccer Downs Post; Head Coach Guagliardi Earns 100th Career Victory

CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team defeated Post University 5-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. With the win, Head Coach Nate Guagliardi earns his 100th career coaching victory.
 
The Cougars improve to 4-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the CACC, while the Eagles fall to 3-6-0 and 3-2-0 in conference play.
 
Caldwell got on the board midway through the opening half as sophomore Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) scored in the 20th minute. The Cougars tacked on a goal late in the half as freshman Jordan Madrid (Cherry Hill, N.J.) dribbled into the box and chipped it past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
 
The Eagles got on the board with one minute left in the first half as they scored off a missed shot off the cross bar. The shot totals were eve at 7 at the half with Caldwell leading 2-1.
 
The Cougars added three second half goals as freshman Macie Pennington (Townsend, Del.) headed in a loose ball off a shot off the cross bar to extend the lead to 3-1 in the 54th minute. Caldwell scored 1:14 later as freshman Teaghan Darling (Forked Rivers, N.J.) scored off a throw-in from sophomore Amber Raines (Millville, N.J.)
 
Caldwell capped the scoring as junior Amanda Wroblewski (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored off an assist from sophomore Gina Alfano (Union, N.J.) in the 68th minute.
 
Sophomore Daniela Lucca (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) finished with four saves in the victory.
 
Coach Guagliardi, in his 11th season leading the Cougars, earned career victory #100. He currently owns a 100-91-11 coaching record.   
 
The Cougars travel to Wilmington University on Saturday, September 30 for a CACC clash at noon.
