ITHACA, N.Y.- Caldwell University sprint football freshman running back
Carl Watson (Newark, N.J.) totaled 178 all-purpose yards in the Cougars 48-20 loss to Cornell University. The Cougars fall to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the Collegiate Sprint Football League, while the Big Red open their season at 1-0 and 1-0 in conference play.

Watson came up two yards short of the program's first 100-yard rusher as he posted 98 yards on 12 carries. He also was busy in the receiving game as he hauled in seven receptions for 80 yards. Watson found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter. He scored from seven yard out early in the fourth quarter and added a three-yard run late in the game.

Freshman running back
Nysir Smith (Newark, N.J.) put Caldwell on the board in the first half with a nine-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. Smith rushed for 47 yards on the ground on eight carries. He added three catches for 34 yards.

Zavion Stevens (Bloomfield, N.J.) contributed over 100 all-purpose yards as he finished with 15 carries for 79 yards. He also caught one pass for 27 yards. Freshman quarterback
