ORANGEBURG, N.Y.- Caldwell University men's soccer junior
Joaquin Escudero (San Sebastian, Spain) netted the team's lone goal but the Cougars came up short 2-1 in overtime to Dominican College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
The Cougars fall to 2-5-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the CACC, while the Chargers improve to 1-6-0 and 1-3-0 in conference play.
The teams battled through a scoreless first half with Dominican holding the shot advantage 9-6. The Chargers broke through in the 57th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Caldwell evened the score exactly one minute later. Freshman
Sander Golmen (Lier, Belgium) played in a corner kick that was headed into the net by Escudero.
The score remained tied at one after 90 minutes of play as the game headed to overtime. Dominican netted the game-winner in the 98th minute.
Senior
Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) played the entire game in net and recorded 12 saves.
The Cougars host Holy Family University in a CACC contest on Saturday, September 23 at 1:30 at Caldwell Field.
