RINDGE, N.H.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team fell in their season opener with a 3-1 loss to Franklin Pierce University. The Cougars open the season at 0-1, while the Ravens begin the season at 1-0.
Franklin Pierce took the early lead as they netted the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. The Ravens held the edge in shots in the opening half 10-3 as they led 1-0 at halftime.
The Ravens added to their lead early in the second half as they netted their second goal in the 51st minute.
The Cougars rallied in the 68th minute as they tallied their first goal of the season. Junior
Kaitlyn Elias (Lanoka, N.J.) found the back of the net off an assist from freshman
Teaghan Darling (Forked River, N.J.).
Franklin Pierce added a goal in the 81st minute as they took the win in both teams' season opener.
Sophomore
Daniela Lucca (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) recorded 11 saves in 90 minutes in net for the Cougars.
Caldwell returns to action on Sunday, September 3 as they travel to Saint Anselm College for a non-conference game at noon.
