PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University baseball senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in four runs in a game one win but the Cougars split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against USciences. Caldwell took the opener 13-6 but the Devils won the nightcap 1-0.

Caldwell moves to 7-16 overall and 4-10 in the CACC, while the Devils stand at 9-19 and 6-12 in conference play.

The Cougars took the early lead in the opener with three runs in the first three innings. Junior
Paul Marinello (Freehold, N.J.) singled to lead off the game and scored on a double by junior
Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.). Caldwell added to their lead in the third as Bernstein drew a leadoff walk and moved to third on a single by freshman
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.). Senior
Ryan Rivera (Saddle Brook, N.J.) singled in Bernstein with Zosulis advancing to third. Zosulis scored later in the inning on an error to a 3-0 lead.

USciences rallied in the third as they took the lead with four runs in the inning. The Devils added a run in the fifth as they extended their lead to 5-3.

Caldwell cut the score in the sixth as Marinello drew a walk, while Goldman reached on an error. Bernstein grounded out to score Marinello to slice the score to 6-5. The Cougars rallied back in the seventh as they scored six runs.

In the seventh, freshman
Dustin Walicky (Belleville, N.J.) singled with two outs. Junior
Daniel Gregor (Monroe, N.J.) followed with a triple to tie the game at 5-5. Junior
Rob DeSanti (Barneget, N.J.) singled to score Gregor to put the Cougars in the lead. Marinello reached on an error and Goldman singled to load the bases. Bernstein came through with the big hit as he cleared the bases with a double. Zosulis singled home Bernstein to put Caldwell ahead 10-5.

Caldwell added two runs in the eighth as junior
Justin Jeannette (East Hanover, N.J.), Walicky and Gregor all walked to load the bases. DeSanti singled to score two runs. Rivera tripled with one out in the ninth and scored on a Jeannette ground out.

On the mound, freshman
Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) got the start, going four innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on three hits with six strikeouts. Freshman
Raymond Ramos (Bloomfield, N.J.) earned the win in relief as he tossed 3 1/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits. Sophomore
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit.

In the nightcap, Caldwell was limited to four hits as the Cougars fell 1-0. Â Junior
Joshua Caba (Belleville, N.J.) took the loss as he tossed five innings, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts. Freshman
Jason Salva (West Haverstraw, N.Y.) retired all three batters he faced in his one inning of work with two strikeouts.

The Cougars travel to Bloomfield College on Sunday, April 9 for a CACC doubleheader at 1 pm at the Westside Park in Newark.
