BRONXVILLE, N.Y.- The Caldwell University baseball team fell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Concordia College. The Cougars came up short in the opener 8-6 in 11 innings and fell in the nightcap 7-2.

The Cougars fall to 12-23 overall and 6-14 in the CACC, while the Clippers improve to 6=27 and 5-15 in conference play.
In the opener, Caldwell took the early lead as they loaded the bases in the second. Sophomore
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch, while freshman
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) and senior
Ryan Rivera (Saddle Brook, N.J.) singled to load the bases with no out. Junior
Rob DeSanti (Barneget, N.J.) singled home two runs as Caldwell went up 2-0. Junior
Daniel Gregor (Monroe, N.J.) drew a walk, while junior
William Levier (Monroe Township, N.J.) was hit by a pitch to force in a run.

Caldwell added two in the fifth as senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch with one out. Marino followed with a single and both runners moved into scoring position on a passed ball. Rivera and DeSanti followed with a run scoring singles to extend the Cougar lead to 5-0.

Concordia rallied with two runs in the seventh and added two in the eighth to cut the score to 5-4. Caldwell added a run in the ninth as Levier led off the inning with a single. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single by Marino to take a 6-4 lead.

The Clippers pulled even in the ninth with a pair of runs on a two-out single. Concordia got two runs in the 11th for take the opener.

Justin Picinic (River Vale, N.J.) tossed six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and struck out six. Sophomore
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and struck out two. Freshman
Jason Salva (West Haverstraw, N.Y.) tossed two innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits. Freshman
Raymond Ramos (Bloomfield, N.J.) took the loss to fall to 1-1 as he allowed two runs on one hit.

The Cougars jumped on the board in the first inning of game two as junior
Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.) doubled with one out. He stole third and scored on a Bernstein double.

Concordia battled back to tie the score with a run in the second inning. The Clippers rallied with six runs in the four inning to take a 7-1 lead. Caldwell added a run in the seventh as Rivera and Zosulis walked. Both runners stole a base with Rivera scoring on a ground out by freshman
Andrew Ferrara (Mt. Arlington, N.J.)

On the mound, junior
Joshua Caba (Belleville, N.J.) tossed 3 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and struck out four to fall to 2-5. Freshman
Nick Cerbone (Bayonne, N.J.) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, while Gregor tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit.
