Schenck Nets 100th Career Point in Women’s Lacrosse Loss to Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse junior Pamela Schenck (East Moriches, N.Y.) became the first to reach 100 career points in the Cougars 18-13 loss to Philadelphia University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. The Cougars have locked up the #5 seed in next week's CACC Championship and will travel to #4 Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday.
 
The Cougars fall to 7-8 overall and 5-4 in the CACC, while the Rams improve to 8-7 and 6-3 in conference play.
 
Philadelphia got off to a quick start as they scored the first three goals of the game. Freshman Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) netted her 60th goal of the season with 24:57 left in the opening half. Schenck added a goal, her 40th of the season, to close the gap to 3-2.
 
The Rams added three goals and traded goals with the Cougars. Kassaleh and Schenck tallied goals as Caldwell trailed 7-4 late in the half. Philadelphia pulled ahead 11-4 with six minutes left in the first half. Kassaleh posted a pair of goals, while the Rams countered with a late score to lead 12-6 at halftime.
 
Caldwell battled back to start the second half as they scored four of the first five goals to pull within three goals. Junior Mariah Wynn (Clearwater, Fla.) netted a goal early in the second half but the Rams answered with a goal. The Cougars tallied three unanswered goals as sophomore Jessica Collum (Wayne, N.J.) got the run started. Schenck assisted on sophomore Maryellen McCarthy's (Levittown, N.Y.) goal at the 15:57 mark. Kassaleh added a goal 36 seconds later as Caldwell pulled to within 13-10.
 
Philadelphia extended to a 15-10 advantage and then Cougar history was made at the 9:48 mark. Schenck tallied her third goal of the game and became the first Cougars to reach 100 career points. Wynn and senior Amanda Timmes (Pine Beach, N.J.) netted late goals but the Cougars came up short.
 
In net, sophomore Elizabeth Ruedemann (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) tallied 13 saves in net.  
 
Caldwell hits the road for the CACC Championship First Round match-up. The #5 Cougars will travel to #4 Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, April 25 at 3:30 pm.
