PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse sophomore
Rachel Lucia (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) tallied three goals but the Cougars fell to Chestnut Hill College 12-6 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Quarterfinals.
Caldwell ends their season at 7-9, while the Griffins improve to 7-10 and advance to Saturday's CACC semifinals.
The Cougars took the early lead as Lucia and junior
Pamela Schenck (East Moriches, N.Y.) netted goals to put Caldwell ahead 2-1. Chestnut Hill answered with three goals to pull ahead 4-2.
Junior
Mariah Wynn (Clearwater, Fla.) chipped in a goal to close the gap to 4-3. The Griffins finished the half with two goals over the final six minutes to take a 6-3 halftime lead.
Caldwell rallied back to start the second half to cut the score to one goal. Lucia scored a pair of goals at the 21:44 mark and added a second one 14 seconds later as the Cougars pulled to within 6-5.
Chestnut Hill added a goal at the 20:32 mark of the second half. Freshman
Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) scored at the 17:42 mark to cut the score to 7-6. The Griffins scored five goals over the final 11 minutes as the extended their lead to 12-6.
In net, sophomore
Elizabeth Ruedemann (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) recorded 14 saves in the loss the Caldwell.
The game marked the final collegiate contest for senior
Amanda Timmes (Pine Beach, N.J.). She ends her career with 95 groundballs and 67 caused turnovers. She is the program's first four-year player and the first two-time CACC All-Conference honoree.
