CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University baseball team came up short in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Post University. The Eagles took the opener 6-1 and took the nightcap 7-0.

Caldwell falls to 5-12 overall and 2-6 in the CACC, while the Eagles improve to 7-11 and 4-0 in conference play.

Post got off to a quick start in game one as they scored three runs in the opening inning. Caldwell got their run in the second as junior
Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.) led off the inning with a triple to right-center. Freshman
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) grounded out to score Goldman.

The Eagles added a run in the fifth and two in the seventh. Caldwell got runners on bases in the seventh and eighth but failed to score. Goldman went 3-for-4 in the opening as part of a 4-for-7 afternoon

Chris Gehrsitz (Jackson, N.J.) tossed 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on 11 hits and struck out one to fall to 1-2 on the season. Freshman
Jason Salva (West Haverstraw, N.Y.) pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, while freshman
Nick Cerbone (Bayonne, N.J.) pitched one scoreless inning.

In the nightcap, Post got on the board first as they scored four runs in the opening inning. Caldwell was limited to three hits in the game as they fell in the game two.

Joshua Caba (Belleville, N.J.) pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits with three strikeouts to fall to 1-2 on the season. Freshman
John Franco (Great Meadows, N.J.) tossed the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out two.
