Baseball Falls to Adelphi on Day 4 of Florida Trip

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.- Caldwell University baseball senior Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 with a double but the Cougars fell to Adelphi University 16-2.
 
The Cougars fall to 2-4 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 5-4.
 
Caldwell got on the board in the opening inning as junior Paul Marinello (Freehold, N.J.) led off the game with a single. Bernstein singled to move Marniello to third with one out. Junior Justin Jeannette (East Hanover, N.J.) drove in Marinello on a groundout.
 
Adelphi answered with two runs in their half of the first and added seven in the third inning. Caldwell pushed a run across in the fourth inning.
 
Senior Ryan Rivera (Saddle Brook, N.J.) led off the fourth inning with a triple. Bernstein singled to score Rivera. The Panthers scored four in the fourth, two in the fifth and added three in the seventh.
 
Freshman Jason Salva (West Haverstraw, N.Y.) tossed 2 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on four hits and struck out three. Junior Christopher Cerf (Ramsey, N.J.) pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits and struck out two. Junior Dorion Williams (Montville, N.J.) closed out the final two innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and struck out two,  
 
The Cougars play a pair of games on Tuesday, March 14. Caldwell plays Molloy College at 11 am at Lynn University and takes on Adelphi at 6 pm at Santaluces Sports Complex.
