BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Caldwell University baseball team split a pair of games on day six of their Florida road trip. The Cougars opened the day with a 12-4 win over Molloy College but fell in their second game 10-2 to Adelphi University.

The Cougars move to 3-5 on the season. The Lions fall to 3-11, while the Panthers improve to 6-4.

In the opener, the Cougars totaled seven runs over the fourth and fifth innings. Caldwell got four in the fourth inning as freshman
Jack Zosulis (East Windsor, N.J.) doubled to lead off the inning. Junior
Kevin Goldman (Valley Stream, N.Y.) singled and junior
Rob DeSanti (Barneget, N.J.) drove in Zosulis with a single. Goldman scored on a groundout by sophomore
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.). DeSanti came around to score on a wild pitch. Junior
Paul Marinello (Freehold, N.J.) doubled in a run for a 4-0 Cougar lead.

In the fifth, senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) led off with a double, while Zosulis drew a walk. The runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt and both runners scored on a Marino single. Freshman
Andrew Ferrara (Mt. Arlington, N.J.) tripled to score Marino as Caldwell took a 7-0 lead.

Molloy got one run in the fifth and added a run in the sixth. The Cougars capitalized on a Lion error in the sixth to score a run. Bernstein blasted a solo homerun in the seventh for the Cougars.

The Lions added two runs in the eighth but Caldwell finished strong with three runs in the ninth. The Cougars took advantage of a two-out error as senior
Ryan Rivera (Saddle Brook, N.J.) drove in two runs with a double. Bernstein tripled in Rivera as the Cougars posted their third win of the season.

Freshman
Jack Anderson (Nyack, N.Y.) earned the win as he tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and struck out eight. Sophomore
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J.) pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and registered one strikeout. Freshman
Nick Cerbone (Bayonne, N.J.) pitched one scoreless inning, allowing one hit.

In the loss the Adelphi, the Panthers got off to an early lead with two runs in the first and three runs in the second inning. Adelphi added a run in the fourth and four runs in the eight.

Caldwell got their two runs in the eighth as junior
William Levier (Monroe Township, N.J.) reached base on an error. Junior
Justin Jeannette (East Hanover, N.J.) singled to put runners at first and third. Junior
Richard Metro (Brick Town, N.J.) singled home Levier for the first Caldwell run. Goldman singled to score Jeannette but the Cougars came up short.

Zach Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.) tossed seven innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits and struck out two. Freshman
John Franco (Great Meadows, N.J.) pitched one inning, allowing four runs on two hits, while freshman
Raymond Ramos (Bloomfield, N.J.) tossed a scoreless inning.
The Cougars wrap up their Florida road trip as they face Southern Connecticut St. University at 11 am at Lynn University. Â
