CLERMONT, Fla.- The Caldwell University Softball team rallied in the seventh inning to defeated the University of Sioux Falls 3-2 on day four of their Florida trip.

The Cougars move over the .500 mark at 4-3, while USF falls to 10-6.

The teams battled through four scoreless innings before Caldwell broke through in the fifth. Junior
Kiahna Silva (Etiwanda, Calif.) tripled with one out in the fifth. Senior
Lauren Frye (Jupiter, Fla.) put Caldwell in the lead with an RBI double.

Sioux Falls rallied with a run in the sixth and took the lead with a run in the top of the seventh. Caldwell rallied in their last at-bat. Junior
Katelyn Johnson (Denville, N.J.) led off with a walk and was pinch run for by freshman
Daniela Solis (Wilmington, Del.).

Silva reached base on an error to put runners at first and second. The runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt and after the second out, senior
Amy Hickman (Jackson, N.J.) singled home both runners to give Caldwell the win.

Jessie Johnston (Livermore, Calif.) tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Senior
Sydney Ponto (West Deptford, N.J.) earned the win in relief, recording the final two outs in the top of the seventh.

The Cougars continue their Florida trip as they take on the University of Charleston at 3:30 pm and Edinboro University on Monday, March 13 in Clermont, FL.
