CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior
Maura Kelty (Barrington, R.I.) totaled 17 points as the Cougars sailed past Concordia College 80-48 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in the CACC, while the Clippers fall to 0-12 and 0-4 in conference play.
Caldwell got out to a quick start as they built a double-digit lead late in the first quarter. Kelty got the offense going with a three-point play early in the game.
Senior
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) added seven points including a three-point play, while Kelty drained a triple late in the opening quarter. Junior
Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) drained a free throw at the 1:08 mark as Caldwell took a 22-8 lead.
Concordia battled back as they took a one-point lead at 28-27 midway through the second quarter. The teams battled down the stretch with a late Concordia free throw tying the score at 33 at halftime.
Caldwell pulled away in the second half as they shot 52.6% from the field and outscored the Clippers 47-15 over the final two quarters. The third quarter proved pivotal for the Cougars with a 31-point effort to Concordia's six points.
Kelty led Caldwell with nine points, while senior
Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) added eight points in the quarter. Lennon scored just before the end of the quarter for a 64-39 lead heading into the final quarter. Caldwell maintained a double-digit lead to the final buzzer.
Kelty led the way with 17 points and six rebounds, while Sanders tallied 14 points, four boards, five assists and five steals. Senior
Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) posted 14 points and five rebounds, while Lennon totaled eight points, four rebounds and four assists. Drogsler finished with eight points, six assists, six rebounds and four steals.
The Cougars return to action with their last game in the 2017 calendar year as they travel to Nyack College for a CACC clash on Saturday, December 30 at 1 pm.
