NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Caldwell University women's volleyball senior 
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) tallied 19 kills as the Cougars defeated Southern Connecticut St. University in a non-conference match.
 
The Cougars improve to 19-6 overall, while the Owls fall to 19-8 on the season. Southern Connecticut is ranked at #8 in the first NCAA Division II East Region poll of the season.
 
Caldwell took the opening set 25-20, but Southern Connecticut won the second set 25-14. The Cougars won the final two sets 25-19 and 26-24 to win the match.
 
Janssen added four digs and two blocks in the win. Freshman 
Marina Schlaepfer (Aurora, Colo.) chipped in 10 kills, 10 digs and two aces, while senior 
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, Hawaii) totaled nine kills, 15 digs and three blocks.
 
Sophomore 
Kathleen Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) tallied three kills and nine total blocks (three solo), while senior 
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, Ill.) totaled 23 digs and four aces. Senior 
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, Texas) netted 21 assists and nine digs, while junior 
Alyssa Ayala (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with 12 assists and six digs.  
 
The Cougars travel to Pace University on Friday, November 3 for a non-conference match at 7 pm.
