NYACK, N.Y.- Caldwell University women's volleyball senior
Katrina Janssen (Seville, Australia) netted 19 kills as the Cougars outlasted Nyack College in a five-set victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars improve to 17-6 overall and 12-3 in the CACC, while the Warriors drop to 11-18 and 9-6 in conference play.
Caldwell took the first two set 25-19 and 25-22. Nyack rallied to even the match with a 25-23 win in set three and 25-22 set four win. The Cougars won a close fifth set 15-12 to win the match.
Janssen chipped in 21 digs, four blocks and four aces. Senior
Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, Hawaii) posted 13 kills, 20 digs and two aces, while sophomore
Kathleen Compagno (Orland Park, Ill.) totaled eight kills, four aces and five blocks (two solo).
Sophomore
Avery Stanechewski (Tampa, Fla.) finished with seven kills and three blocks, while senior
Jessica Mitchell (Plainfield, Ill.) totaled 24 digs. Senior
Gabrielle Bennett (San Antonio, Texas) led the Cougars with 28 assists, while junior
Alyssa Ayala (Wantagh, N.Y.) totaled 14 assists.
The Cougars travel to Bloomfield College for a CACC match on Tuesday, October 31 at 7 pm.
