LYNDHURST, N.J.- Caldwell University women's soccer sophomore
Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Cougars past Felician University 2-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest. Caldwell has secured sixth place in the CACC standings and will travel to the #3 seed, which will be determined with the final conference games later this week.
The Cougars end the regular season at 8-8-1 overall and finish 7-4-1 in the CACC. The Golden Falcons drop to 5-10-1 and 4-8-1 in conference play.
Caldwell got on the board early in the first half as junior
Stephanie Faust (Grundy City, Iowa) headed the ball into net off a Grundhauser corner kick in the tenth minute.
The Cougars added to their lead in the second half as Grundhauser scored her eighth goal of the season off an assist from junior
Jessica LaConde (Huntington Beach, Calif.) in the 55th minute.
Felician cut the score to 2-1 as they netted a goal in the 74th minute. The Cougar defense held tough down the stretch to preserve the victory.
Sophomore
Daniela Lucca (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) totaled one save in the win as she played the first half. Freshman
Taylor Dean (Beachwood, N.J.) came on in goal and played all 45 minutes in the second half.
The Cougars have secured the #6 seed in next week's CACC Championship. Caldwell will face the #3 in the CACC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, October 31 at 2 pm with their opponent to be determined based on the final regular season contests later this week.
