CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team came up short to Goldey-Beacom College 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars fall to 5-9-2 overall and 3-6-1 in the CACC, while the Lightning improve to 13-3-1 and 9-2-1 in conference play.
Goldey-Beacom took the lead with a pair of first half goals. The Lightning scored in the 14th minute and tallied their second goal 10 minutes later.
The Lightning outshot the Cougars 11-9 for the game, including 7-3 in the opening half. Junior
Tom Yorston (Northamptonshire, United Kingdom) and freshman
Alessandro Canino (Parma, Italy) each posted three shots in the game for Caldwell.
In net, freshman
Nils Svere (Lier, Norway) finished with three saves.
Prior to the game, the soccer team recognized its four seniors in
Patrick Grey (Auckland, New Zealand),
Sam Odell (Walton-On-Thames, England),
Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) and
Martin Djikanovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) for their contributions to the soccer program.
The Cougars host travel to Felician University on Wednesday, October 25 for a 7:30 pm CACC match-up.
