PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's tennis team earned their first conference win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Holy Family University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars improve to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the CACC, while the Tigers drop to 0-5 and 0-4 in conference play.
Caldwell swept all three doubles matches as senior
Valeria Otarola (Lima, Peru) and senior
Rebecca Ryan (Berkeley Heights, N.J) posted an 8-0 win at the #1 spot. Sophomore
Janis Jimenez (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) and senior
Shannon Donaldson (Bonita Springs, Fla.) won at #2 doubles 8-4, while sophomore
Amy Tang (East Orange, N.J.) and senior
Claudia Romano (Salerno, Italy) earned a 8-3 win at #3 doubles.
Otarola won in straight sets at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Ryan won 6-1, 6-0 at #2 singles. Donaldson posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at #3 singles, while Jimenez won at #4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Tang won her match at #6 singles 8-0.
The Cougars host Jefferson on Tuesday, October 3 for a CACC match at 3:30 pm.
